The Associated Press reports on March 20th:

The California Medical Board has accused two Orange County doctors of botching plastic surgeries, with one patient claiming she received unwanted liposuction and a facelift when she only agreed to a tummy tuck.

The board filed accusations of gross negligence and incompetence this month against Dr. Harrell Robinson of Anaheim Hills and Dr. Shir Miskinyar of Santa Ana.

One woman claims Robinson performed abdominal surgery on her but she woke up to find he also gave her a face lift and liposuction, according to medical board documents. The head and neck surgeon is also accused of borrowing $15,000 from the woman and forcibly kissing her.

Another patient who had her breast implants replaced was later admitted to the hospital after Robinson failed to remove an implant that was visible in an open wound.

Robinson could not be located for comment.

The medical board documents said Miskinyar, who works at All Beauty Plastic Surgery in Santa Ana, performed breast augmentation on two women who developed infections and had to have their implants removed.

Miskinyar told the Orange County Register one patient already had an infection before surgery and the other did not heal properly because she smoked.

“I have the best record in the whole community of Southern California,” Miskinyar said.

Both doctors could lose their licenses or be reprimanded if a review of evidence substantiates the allegations.

Meghan McCain is sick of the debate about her weight.

After the 24-year-old daughter of U.S. Senator and former GOP presidential hopeful John McCain criticized Anne Coulter and other conservatives in an online column, political commentator Laura Ingraham heckled her on her radio show last week.

Ingraham tore into Meghan McCain as “just another Valley Girl gone awry,” and even went on to mock McCain in a faux Valley Girl voice, saying that she didn’t get a “role in the Real World” because “they don’t like plus-sized models.”

Ouch. Hitting back on The View on March 16, Meghan McCain said she can’t believe Ingraham went after her weight instead of actually talking about the issues.

“What do young women think when I speak my mind about politics, and I want to have a political discussion about the ideological future of the Republican party, and the answer is, ’she’s fat, she shouldn’t have an opinion?’” she said.
“What kind of message are we sending young women? … It infuriates me. I’m a political writer on a blog, and all of a sudden I’m too fat to write?”

“I couldn’t possibly imagine how any woman could criticize another woman’s weight. I work out at the gym and try and eat healthy, but I’m still a size 8.”

Enduring taunts about her body since she was in grade school, Meghan McCain – a vocal campaign supporter of her dad last year – said she is fed up.

“Why are we so obsessed with weight?” she said.

“When Tyra Banks went on her show in her bathing suit and said, ‘Kiss my fat ass…’ That’s what I feel right now. I’m like, ‘Kiss my fat ass!’”

Added McCain, “There is no place for weight criticism in 2009.”

Cellulite are fat deposits that tend to form in the deep subcutaneous layers of our skin. It has a lumpy, dimply, appearance that looks somewhat like cottage cheese or orange peel. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery over 10.2 cosmetic procedures were performed in the
United States in 2008. The most frequently performed nonsurgical
procedure was Botox injections and the most popular surgical
procedure was breast augmentation.

“For the first time in the twelve years these statistics
have been collected, liposuction is a runner up in popularity to
breast augmentation. There is no doubt that this turnabout will
generate discussions in the medical community and the public at
large,” Alan Gold, MD, Aesthetic Society president,
reflected. “Changes in fashion, i.e. decolletage baring
styles, might be a factor behind this change.”

ASAPS, working with an independent research firm, compiled the
12-year national data for procedures performed 1997-2008. A paper-based
questionnaire was mailed to 16,000 Board-Certified physicians (6,000
Dermatologists, 6,000 Otolaryngologists, and 4,000 Plastic
Surgeons). A total of 894 completed and valid responses (461
Plastic Surgeons, 277 Dermatologists, and 156 Otolaryngologists)
were received in time for tabulation.

Final figures have been projected to reflect nationwide
statistics and are based exclusively on the Board-Certified
Plastic Surgeons; Otolaryngologists; and Dermatologists. The
findings have been aggregated and extrapolated to the known
population of 23,600 physicians who are Board Certified in these
specialties. Though the confidence intervals change by procedure,
depending on the grouping’s sample size and the response
variance, the overall survey portion of this research has a
standard error of +/- 3.21% at a 95% level of confidence.

First of all, we love Kelly Clarkson. She is probably one of the most talented performers to come from American Idol. I’ve always been thicker and millions of people voted for me,” she continues. “People are born all different shapes and sizes. People have liked me this way .” Clarkson performed her hit “My Life Would Suck Without You” on Idol Wednesday night. Her fourth album, All I Ever Wanted, hit stores on Tuesday.So what would Clarkson be up to if she wasn’t discovered on Idol?”If I wasn’t a singer, I’d be broke, because I have no other talent,” she jokes.

Jessica Simpson performed just last night at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, FL. Without a word to her critics for a weight debate that caused her sister Ashlee to blog her disgust at the reports, Jessica strutted across the stage in short Daisy Dukes.

The singer took a bashing on several blogs after being snapped in an unflattering outfit earlier this year. She later addressed the controversy by thanking a concert crowd in Charlottesville, VA, for their support. “Stay positive,” she added, “and pray out loud.”
