FDA Expands List of Weight Loss Products Considered Unsafe
The FDA put out a report at the end of 2008 in regards to 28 different weight-loss products. This new expansion of that list increased the number of products all the way up to 72.
These new products which have been added to the list contain active pharmaceutical ingredients which may be unsafe, and have been undeclared.
The products added to the list include Harbal Xenicol, Xsvelten, and others.
These were revealed in a nationwide alert as they have been found to contain ingredients that had not been revealed to the FDA prior to them going to market.
These pharmaceutical ingredients the FDA was unaware of consist of cetilistat, fluoxetine, and others. These active ingredients are all from drugs that have not been approved in the United States.
